about
We set really unhealthy and unrealistic definitions of what success is suppose to “look” like and obsess about how that preconceived vision of success is the only way our lives could possibly unfold in order to be successful. We then talk ourselves into believing that we’re going no where in our careers when in fact all the little wins and baby steps have added up and turned into a career that may not look like what you define as “successful” but is its own version of success. But in the end were unfairly comparing ourselves to other people’s careers, giving into our own insecurities and we end up failing to let ourselves enjoy the journey.
lyrics
It’s time to pay attention with the heart
Wrestle the cynic that corrupts the lot
Bask in the failures that takes ya far
There’s no mistake that I’m going nowhere, slowly
I second the little wins
(you said, you said)
I take it as no surprise
(I said, back me up)
I second the little wins
(you said, you said)
Fail up to keep yourself alive
I said, back me up
Season the politics that tricks the mind
Counterfeit in the confidence we hide
Rattle the baby steps just to inch right by,
There’s no mistake that I’m going nowhere, slowly…
I second the little wins
(you said, you said)
I take it as no surprise
(I said, back me up)
I second the little wins
(you said, you said)
Fail up to keep yourself alive
I said, back me up

Dirtbag Transformation: "What is this?" was my first reaction. But what an amazing song. It reminds me a bit of the Pixies in how it pulls together dissonance and then resolves. malfunction54
The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie
Hopscotching from jangle pop and post-hardcore to math rock and shoegaze, these Minnesota rockers have a gift for musical multitasking. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 29, 2024
