about
This is a portrait of and love poem to our highschool selves. We trudged along, quiet and observant, with music being the only thing that saved us. Romantic love is a new concept - we’re plagued with non-sexual dreams of grazing someone’s hand in the hallway, or the ultimate: a first kiss. We have all of the feelings and we don’t know what to name them, but it doesn’t make them any less real.
lyrics
You’re so quiet when you talk
Scared to say something wrong
In a corner being strange
Good at acting your age
Bracelet, band tee, brand new jeans
Hit a buzzer, the alarm and the morning’s still dark
Eating breakfast in the car, fall asleep headphones on
Don’t know how I feel
Only know it’s real
Fear of caring, love is scary
But I still want to do nice things for you…
You…
You…
Bracelet, band tee, brand new jeans
In the hall way by the door
Saw his jacket on the floor
Couldn’t touch it, wouldn’t dare
So you left it on the stairs
Don’t know how I feel
Only know it’s real
Fear of caring, love is scary
But I still want to do nice things for you…
You…
You…

The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie
Dirtbag Transformation: "What is this?" was my first reaction. But what an amazing song. It reminds me a bit of the Pixies in how it pulls together dissonance and then resolves. malfunction54
