about
A small fry is, simply put, a bully. Anyone who is in a position of power that uses that power to bend others to their will without any concern for their well-being. There are so many examples of this, in and outside of the music industry. “You should put it on your resume” is a tongue-and-cheek suggestion from the proletariat, implying that their methods of retaining power won’t last long.
lyrics
Big words, that get you in trouble
Old dog that lives in a bubble
Blind faith, a budget messiah
You sleep better when the world is on fire
(Ahh woo)
When you turn your back to meet us
Have your people come to greet us
(Ahh woo)
Paint a picture of a leader
Casting out the non-believers
(Ahh woo)
Fraudulent fornicator
Incompetent communicator
Master of a power play
You should put it on your resume
Cake walk, feed your libido
Small fry with a supersized ego
Easy money, pretending not to care
Blood oath, it’s a family affair
(Ahh woo)
When you turn your back to meet us
Have your people come to greet us
(Ahh woo)
Paint a picture of a leader
Casting out the non-believers
Fraudulent fornicator
Incompetent communicator
Master of a power play
You should put it on your resume

The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie
Dirtbag Transformation: "What is this?" was my first reaction. But what an amazing song. It reminds me a bit of the Pixies in how it pulls together dissonance and then resolves. malfunction54
